- Nick focuses on building new client relationships while supporting his existing customer base.
- He leads the commercial lending team with a strong credit and lending philosophy.
- Nick is an active member of the Coldwater Exchange Club and serves on the board of the Community Bankers of Michigan.
SARAH HEADLEY
1st VP Commercial Loan Manager
- Sarah joined the Commercial Lending team in 2008 and has over 16 years of experience in the financial industry.
- She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Finance from Central Michigan University and an MBA from Walsh College.
- Sarah has been a member of the Coldwater Township Sunrise Rotary Club since 2011, serving on the board for over five years and as a recent Past President.
- She focuses on building new client relationships while meeting the needs of current customers in the Branch and Hillsdale areas.
DOUG KIESSLING
RVP Commercial Loan Manager
- Doug joined Southern Michigan Bank & Trust in 1999, bringing six years of prior commercial lending experience.
- He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Hillsdale College.
- Doug has expertise in lending to the commercial real estate, manufacturing, service, and agricultural industries.
- His responsibilities include overseeing commercial loan activities and business development for the Calhoun County region.
TOM SWOISH
1st VP Commercial Loan Manager
- Tom joined Southern Michigan Bank & Trust in 2000, bringing extensive commercial banking experience.
- He began his commercial lending career in 1987 with First of America Bank and later gained experience at 1st Source Bank.
- Tom holds dual Bachelor of Science degrees from Michigan State University and is a Dale Carnegie graduate.
- His responsibilities include managing commercial loan activities and business development for the St. Joseph County region.
Bill Jors
SVP Commercial Loan Officer
- Bill joined Southern Michigan Bank & Trust in June 2022, bringing over 30 years of experience in Jackson community banking.
- He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Spring Arbor College in 1990.
- Bill served as the Mayor of the City of Jackson from 2016 to 2017.
- He remains actively involved in public service within the community.
GABE ALVEZ

- Gabe joined SMBT in 2019 as Vice President Business Development Officer and became Vice President Commercial Lending Officer in 2021.
- He began his career in 2012 with JP Morgan Chase, N.A. as a Licensed Relationship Banker.
- Gabe completed the Business & Commercial Lending certification program through the American Bankers Association.
- He is actively involved in the community, serving in roles such as:

- Deb joined Southern Michigan Bank & Trust in 2007 after serving as Second Vice President and Branch Officer at County National Bank.
- She holds an MBA from Western Michigan University and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Economics from Spring Arbor College.
- Deb is based in the Battle Creek market and specializes in commercial loans.

BOBBY WROZEK
VP Commercial Loan Officer
- Wrozek brings 20 years of banking experience, including branch management, new business development, and commercial lending.
- He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Adrian College.
- A lifelong resident of Jackson, he lives with his wife, Brenna, and their four children.
- Wrozek is actively involved in the community, serving roles such as:
- Member of Jackson Southwest Little League
- Member of the Exchange Club of Jackson
- Member of The Dahlem Conservancy Endowment Board
- Board Member and Treasurer of the Michigan Brewnettes Youth Softball Club
- Varsity Softball Coach at Lumen Christi High School.
COREY DONNER
VP Commercial Loan Officer
- Corey joined Southern’s team in 2010 as a credit analyst and became a commercial loan officer in 2015.
- He holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a minor in Finance from Ferris State University.
- Corey has expertise in real estate investments and commercial financing.
- Based in the Branch County and St. Joseph markets, he focuses on building relationships and helping customers achieve their goals while delivering exceptional customer service.
ADAM LOSINSKI
VP Commercial Loan Officer
- Adam joined the commercial lending team in 2012 after starting as a commercial credit analyst with Southern Michigan Bank & Trust in 2008.
- He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University.
- Adam specializes in working with commercial and agricultural businesses to address their financing needs.
KARA MEAD
VP Branch Manager & Commercial Loan Officer
- Kara joined the commercial lending team in 2015, bringing over nineteen years of banking experience.
- She studied Business Management and has received several banking awards for her customer service skills, sales growth, profitability, and leadership in employee management.
- Kara specializes in commercial lending in the Calhoun County market.
GREG MILLER
VP Commercial Loan Officer
- Greg joined the commercial lending team in 2013, bringing 23 years of experience in both public and private accounting.
- He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Western Michigan University.
- Greg is the President and Treasurer of the Branch Area Food Pantry and the Treasurer of the Coldwater Noon Exchange Club.
- His responsibilities include developing new customer relationships and assisting with the needs of existing customers.

- Justin earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from Western Michigan University.
- He brings over fourteen years of extensive lending experience to Southern Michigan Bank & Trust.
- Justin lives in Portage with his family and is actively involved in coaching his girls' softball teams and KOHA travel hockey.
- He serves as President of the Portage Community Center and is a member of Kalamazoo Communities in Schools and the SWM Professional Networking Group.
MATTHEW MILLER
VP Commercial Loan Officer
- Matthew Miller brings over 22 years of banking experience, most recently serving as Vice President, Warehouse Lending Relationship Manager at Flagstar Bank in Jackson.
- He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and an Associate of Business Administration in Marketing, both from Baker College.
- In his spare time, Matthew enjoys coaching Jackson Area Club Soccer and volunteering at the Sharp Park Academy PTO.

- Mike Jors has over 20 years of experience in the financial industry.
- Prior to joining Southern, he served as Vice President/Private Bank and Retail Development with County National Bank.
- He has held various roles, including Vice President/Business Relationship Manager, Assistant Vice President/Branch Manager and Commercial Lender, and Branch Manager
- Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Western Michigan University.

Gabe joined SMBT in 2019 as a Vice President Business Development Officer and transitioned to Vice President Commercial Lending Officer in 2021. Gabe began his career in 2012 with JP Morgan Chase, N.A. as a Licensed Relationship Banker. He completed the Business & Commercial Lending certification program through the American Bankers Association. Gabe serves in a variety of community organizations; he is an Ambassador for the Sturgis Area Community Chamber, Board President and Coach of the Sturgis Youth Soccer Organization, City of Sturgis Planning Commissioner, City of Sturgis Employee Retirement Committee Member, Sturgis Area Community Foundation Review Committee Member, Sturgis Hospital Board Member, Finance Council Member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, and he is a member of Exchange Club.
